Video of the Kilauea volcano eruption in Hawaii

The Kilauea volcano, one of the most active in the world, began erupting Monday in an area that last erupted half a century ago, according to the U.S. Geological Survey’s Hawaiian Volcano Observatory.

The lava-spewing fissure system extends approximately 1 km in length. The USGS described the eruption as having “low eruptive volume” and occurring in a remote location, posing no immediate threat to human life or critical infrastructure.
