At least two dead, according to authorities

At least two people were killed and several others injured in a shooting during a Juneteenth celebration at a Round Rock, Texas, park Saturday night, police said. An altercation broke out between two groups at the event at Old Settlers Park, and “someone pulled out a gun and started shooting,” Round Rock Police Chief Allen Banks said during of a press conference. A large crowd was at the event at the time and “several victims were affected,” the chief said. Officers at the event intervened and began providing aid, Banks said.

Police had no suspects in custody early Sunday morning, and it’s unclear how many people opened fire, according to the chief. “This is an ongoing investigation,” Banks said.

“It breaks your heart for a family who came to enjoy their night out, and now their lives are changed forever because of someone who doesn’t care about anyone else’s life, and it’s so disappointing ” Banks said.
