2 dead, 8 injured in shooting outside Arkansas grocery store

Two people were killed and eight injured in a mass shooting Friday outside a grocery store in Fordyce, Arkansas, state police said. A law enforcement officer was among the injured and his injuries are not life-threatening, police said.

Arkansas State Police responded to the Mad Butcher grocery store at 11:30 a.m. local time on Friday. The shooter was seriously injured and was taken into custody, police said.

“I have been informed of the tragic Fordyce shooting and am in constant contact with State Police at the scene. I am grateful to law enforcement and first responders for their quick and heroic action to save lives. “My prayers go out to the victims and all those affected by this,” the governor said. Sarah Huckabee Sanders said on social media.

The federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives said special agents from the ATF’s New Orleans field office were on scene and assisting in response to the shooting.
