Northern California’s first summer weekend of the year will be hot

Northern California Forecast: Saturday Expected to Hit Triple Digits in the Valley

BACK LIKE THIS. LET’S CHECK THE KCRA 3 WEATHER NOW AND THE WEATHER. Let’s see, let’s see. OH, HEATHER, what are you standing back there? Do you have any night photos or something? Yeah, we have satellite. IT’S IN NIGHT MODE NOW. Yeah, we changed it here. So what are you looking at here along the coast, what was there? WHAT IS NOW RAPIDLY ERODING? THIS IS THE MARINE LAYER. THE CLOUDS THAT DEVELOP ALONG THE COOL AIR THAT IS DEPOSITED OVER THE PACIFIC. NOW IT’S RETRACTING FROM NORTH TO SOUTH, THIS IS THE NUMBER ONE SIGN THAT WE’RE HAVING WARMER WEATHER TOMORROW. WE STILL HAVE A BREEZE IN THE TERRITORY AND WE STILL HAVE SOME FRESH AIR ON THE COAST. SO TONIGHT AND TOMORROW MORNING, AT LEAST FOR SACRAMENTO TO FAIRFIELD. THIS IS GOING TO BE NICE AND COOL. Not as cool as the last two nights, but if you want to do something tomorrow morning, you need to stay out for a few hours. THE FIRST HOURS OF THE DAY WILL BE THE MOST COMFORTABLE. FUTURECAST SHOWING WE CAN BE IN THE UPPER Fifties for at least a beat. ONCE THE SUN RISES, THE NUMBERS WILL INCREASE VERY QUICKLY. IT’S NOON. SHOULD BE IN THE 90’S IN MANY PLACES IN THE VALLEY. Maybe we’re still clinging to the ’80s in Fairfield. We will still have a breeze, but we won’t have the cooling effect of that land breeze this time. AFTERNOON TEMPERATURES ARE EXPECTED TO HIGH BETWEEN AROUND 101 TO 105 IN THE VALLEY. UPPER 90S IN THE DELTA. EVEN ON THE COAST, TEMPERATURES IN THE 70S, WHICH, HEY, IF YOU’RE FROM THE VALLEY, YOU WANT TO ESCAPE THE HEAT. THE COAST IS A GOOD PLACE. THE HIGH SIERRA, ANOTHER GOOD PLACE, BUT MID 80’S FOR TRUCKS. It’s quite hot this time of year. WE WILL STILL HAVE BREEZE IN THE TERRITORY SATURDAY EVENING, BUT NOTE WE ARE NOT SEEING A BIG DROP IN TEMPERATURES YET TO THE MID 80’S AT ABOUT 8:30 AM MARYSVILLE MAY BE STILL HANGING INTO THE 90’S. SAME FOR MODESTO. SO TOMORROW IS DEFINITELY A DAY TO PLAN AROUND THE HEAT. MORNING WILL BE YOUR FRIEND. SUNDAY MORNING WILL BE A LITTLE WARMER THAN SATURDAY MORNING, BUT STILL THE BEST TIME TO GO OUTDOORS. WATCH WHAT HAPPENS IN THE AFTERNOON. We have the onshore flow and we’re starting to create some cooler air on the coast so the Delta breeze will hold back the Sacramento temperature at least a little. I know the upper 90s aren’t much of a difference from, say, 102 and 103, but it will be a less hot day. I DON’T MEAN COOLER WITH A TREND LIKE THIS, RIGHT? THE HEAT WILL BE GROUNDED OVER THE SOUTHERN PLAINS. IT IS THE FLOW AROUND THIS LARGE AREA OF HIGH PRESSURE THAT WILL DEVELOP THERE. So we have sort of a stacked earth flow throughout the atmosphere. We will maintain the Delta Breeze. WHAT EXACTLY DETERMINES HOW HOT WE GET NEXT WEEK IS JUST THE AMOUNT OF COOL AIR WE HAVE ACCUMULATED ON THE COAST, AT LEAST FOR THE VALLEY. HERE’S A LOOK AT THINGS FOR SIERRA TEMPERATURES IN THE MID 80’S. SATURDAY AND SUNDAY WE WILL MODERATE THOSE NUMBERS A LITTLE THROUGH THE NEXT WEEK, BUT NOTICE IT IS FULL BRIGHT SUN. And even though it’s cooler up there, once you get up to say 5,600 feet, that sun is a little bit stronger because yeah, the atmosphere is actually thinner up there. YOU CAN BURN MUCH FASTER IN THE SUN. It will be a little warmer for the foothills tomorrow. ON IMPACT DAY, WITH A HIGH OF 96, SIMILAR HEAT TO SUNDAY WITH TEMPERATURES STARTING IN THE MID 60S THEN FOR THE VALLEY, SACRAMENTO’S HOTTEST DAY IS EXPECTED TO BE TOMORROW. THERE MAY BE SOME SPOTS LIKE YUBA CITY AND MODESTO THAT STILL HANGING INTO THREE DIGITS FOR SUNDAY, BUT WE WILL SEE SOME MODERATION IN TEMPERATURES BY THE END OF NEXT WEEK. Yeah, that really puts it into perspective. WHEN YOU SEE THE 80S AT THE SUPERIOR EL
