Shooting at Pittsburgh-area bar leaves 2 dead, 7 injured

PENN HILLS, Pennsylvania. (KDKA) – Two people were killed and seven others injured after a mass shooting at a Penn Hills bar Sunday morning.

The shooting took place at Ballers Hookah Lounge and Cigar Bar on Laketon Road. Officers with the Penn Hills Police Department were called to the scene for reports of a shooting shortly before 3 a.m. Sunday.

Allegheny County police said one of the seven injured was in critical condition, while the other six suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Allegheny County Police Superintendent Chris Kearns said officers found a man and woman dead inside the business. Four men and three women were also shot dead. They were transported to local hospitals by ambulance or private vehicles, police said.

Kearns believes two or more shooters are responsible.

“We’re very early in the investigation and we’re working to try to sort this out,” Kearns said.

What investigators do know is that a fight broke out inside the bar, leading to a shooting, and that’s not the first problem in the case.

“Penn Hills police have been here for two recent shootings,” Kearns said.

Kearns said these events occurred within the last month or so and neither were fatal.

There are signs on the front of the establishment that say “No Guns”, but somehow guns got inside. A security guard who did not want to be identified told KDKA-TV he was one of several guards working the gates of the business.

Investigators have not yet made any arrests. KDKA-TV reached out to the company for comment but did not receive a response Sunday.

If you have any information about what happened, you are asked to call county police at 1-833-ALL-TIPS. Callers can remain anonymous.

Neighbors call for end to violence after Penn Hills bar shooting

Penn Hills resident Rena Parrotte thought something happened down the street from her house.

“I got a text from one of my friends asking, ‘Is everything okay?’ “, Parrotte said.

In fact, it was much closer.

“I’m like, oh, my God, that was really in front of my house,” Parrotte said.

Parrotte said she hasn’t noticed any problems since the bar has been there.

“You don’t hear anything unless you hear the kids playing outside in the morning,” Parrotte said.

She’s tired of gun violence and hopes something will change soon.

“It’s sad to hear that people are going to have fun, they can’t really have fun these days,” Parrotte said. “Let’s put down the weapons, please. »
