Lincoln’s Wife Thought Dead at Funeral Home Is Still Alive

A woman thought dead was breathing at a Lincoln funeral home and is still alive, according to the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office Authorities went to the Butherus-Maser & Love Funeral Home, located near the streets S 40th and A, around 11 a.m. At 45 a.m. for a medical emergency, law enforcement said, funeral home staff were performing CPR on a woman, who was taken to a local hospital. The woman, identified as Constance Glantz, 74, was pronounced dead around 9:44 a.m. Monday at a nursing home in Waverly, The Mulberry, said Lancaster County Sheriff’s Deputy Ben Houchin. Officials said Glantz is still alive and his family has been notified. Staff at the facility pronounced Glantz, who was in hospice care, dead. Houchin said that at this time there are no signs of criminal intent on the part of the nursing home, but that the investigation is ongoing. The nursing home and funeral home denied comment. KETV asked the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services if they would investigate. DHHS Regulations Nebraska Long-Term Care Facilities called this a “very unusual case.” “I’ve been doing this for 31 years and nothing like this has ever happened to this place before. Law enforcement said funeral home staff were performing CPR on a woman, who was taken to a local hospital.

The woman, identified as Constance Glantz, 74, was pronounced dead around 9:44 a.m. Monday at a nursing home in Waverly, The Mulberry, said Lancaster County Sheriff’s Deputy Ben Houchin.

Authorities said Glantz was still alive and his family had been notified.
