Gang of looters rampage AutoZone in South Los Angeles

SOUTH LOS ANGELES (KABC) — An AutoZone store in South Los Angeles was looted by a large mob overnight and it was all caught on camera.

The incident happened around 4 a.m. Monday at Century Boulevard and Hoover Street. According to the Los Angeles Police Department, witnesses reported that about 50 people broke into the store.

Video recorded on a cellphone shows the large group removing the security fence outside the store’s entrance before forcing their way inside. Others entered through a side entrance. Police say at least one person was seen breaking a window.

The footage captured the sound of screeching tires in the background where a street takeover was taking place. It is clear whether the two incidents are linked.

Some individuals, some of whom appeared to be juveniles, were seen walking away with various car parts in their hands.

After officers arrived at the store, a short chase ensued and at least one person was arrested for the burglary that ended in El Segundo.

It’s unclear exactly how much was taken from the store, but video from the scene shows significant damage inside.

No injuries were reported.
