Denver Weather: Possible flooding along I-25 corridor Sunday

DENVER (KDVR) — ONE moderate flood threat was issued for much of the Denver metro area due to rain expected to fall late Sunday afternoon and early evening.

A low threat of flooding was also issued for surrounding areas, including Boulder, Fort Collins and Greeley, according to the Colorado Water Conservation Board.

The Pinpoint Weather team said storms were forecast for Sunday, with the area at a marginal risk of severe weather, about one on a scale of one to five.

Storms could be seen around dinner time, according to the Pinpoint Weather Forecast.

The National Weather Service and the Colorado Water Conservation Board said Sunday the area is at medium risk for flooding.

Some areas could see up to 2 inches in 1 hour, and others up to 3.25 inches in 2 to 3 hours.

Flash Flood Warning: Parker, Castle Rock, Castle Pines

The NWS has issued a flash flood warning for areas including Castle Pines, Castle Rock and Parker until 8:45 p.m. Sunday.

The NWS advises residents in these areas to avoid walking or driving through floodwaters and to move to higher ground.

Severe thunderstorm warnings have been issued

The National Weather Service in Boulder issued several severe thunderstorm warnings Sunday.

A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect for areas near Castle Rock and Franktown until 6:45 p.m. The NWS said quarter-sized hail was possible as well as winds up to 50 mph.

The Parker and Foxfield areas are under a severe thunderstorm warning until 6 p.m. According to the NWS, winds up to 50 mph and hail up to the size of a quarter are both possible.

Milliken, Platteville and Gilcrest are also under a severe thunderstorm warning for possible winds up to 50 mph and hail up to the size of a quarter.
